Microneedling and Skin Needling in Bella Vista

Microneedling, also called skin needling, is a treatment that uses very fine needles to create small channels in the skin and prompt it to produce collagen. At Priscille Vrljic Aesthetics in Bella Vista it is performed by Priscille Vrljic, a registered nurse, and every treatment starts with a consultation.

What microneedling is used for

SkinPen is a medical microneedling device that induces collagen production, which helps diminish signs of ageing. It is used for:

• Fine lines
• Pigmentation and melasma
• Acne scarring
• Surgical scars

What happens during the treatment

A disposable cartridge containing a series of small needles is attached to the device. As the device moves across the skin it creates small micro channels, which are not visible to the naked eye. These encourage tissue regeneration, which affects the appearance of the skin and also its structure and function.

NCTF Boost 135 can be added. It contains a blend of vitamins, minerals, amino acids and hyaluronic acid, which penetrate deeper into the skin through the micro channels.

How many sessions

Three to six sessions are generally recommended. Change in the skin is typically assessed from around three months after treatment. What suits you is discussed at your consultation.

Cost

• Full face: $300, or $400 with NCTF
• Neck only: $300, or $400 with NCTF
• Face and neck: $450, or $550 with NCTF

Treatment time and downtime

• Treatment time: around 40 minutes on average, longer or shorter depending on how many areas are treated
• Downtime: mild redness for 24 hours, and return to normal activities in 2 days

Aftercare

• No make-up for 48 hours
• No active ingredients for 5 days

Preparing for your treatment

Lighter skin types do not require any preparation beforehand. Darker skin types will require a pigment inhibitor serum for 2 to 4 weeks before treatment. This is discussed at your consultation.

Risks and side effects

Possible risks and side effects include:

• Redness, swelling and skin sensitivity
• Temporary discomfort, tightness or a burning sensation
• Pinpoint bleeding and bruising
• Dryness, flaking or peeling
• Temporary skin discolouration or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
• Increased sensitivity to sunlight
• Infection, particularly if aftercare instructions are not followed
• Delayed healing or prolonged redness
• Cold sore reactivation in susceptible individuals
• Rare risk of scarring or persistent skin texture changes
